THE TRAGIC AFTERMATH OF HISTORIC FLOODS

On July 4, 2025, a region in Texas known as Hill Country, became ground zero for the biggest flash floods in its history. The massive rainfall turned the Guadalupe River into a natural disaster out of a nightmare, leading to a tragic loss of life and widespread devastation. In total, at least 135 lives were lost, including 27 members of Camp Mystic, an all-girls summer camp in Hunt. The flooding caused extensive damage to homes, infrastructure, and natural landscapes, but no damage is bigger than the loss of human life. These images were taken one week after the floods with the hope to tell a story of human resilience in the face of tragedy.
